Something That The Lord Made

Movie Review
This movie was an excellent example of medical advancement.
This movie deals with the medical advancement of treatment of blue babies. This movie is also set during a very difficult
time in our nation’s history. It set during a time when most of America was prejudice of black people. This movie was
very touching and in powering to the watcher. I would highly recommend this movie to anyone interested about racism in the
United States or important medical breakthroughs.
This movie
was remarkable in the transition of characters. Mos Def was the actor who played Vivian Thomas a young black struggling worker
who had a dream to become a doctor. Who later assisted Alfred Blalock played by Alan Rickman in his groundbreaking work on
blue babies. Mos Def played a wonderful role and his character portrayed in this
movie appeared to do all the work and received very little credit and was actually criticized in way behind his back. It’s
just scary to realize that life in this country used to be based like that according to your skin color.
Throughout the movie it was
interesting to see Vivian Thomas excel so well at being a lab assistant and do surgery on the dogs. He really was the inventor
the procedure and many instruments used. This film really inspired me to believe that no matter who you are or what your background
is you are capable of doing anything. This movie really introduced to me how medicine used to be taught and the techniques
used and how they were developed for blue babies. All around this was an excellent film and one that I will not easily forget.
